New Matchbox Buick

Have you seen this new Matchbox Buick Police Car yet?  I thought it was well done and looks good next to one of my favorite Johnny Lightnings models.  I'll add them both to the Museum soon.
Seeya!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everybody! And I wanted to say "Thanks" for visiting the Museum site.  And in case you are curious, this truck has this week's stats on visits to the museum. This will give you an idea how many visits the site gets on a typical week. More and more people keep showing up and I'm honored that you enjoy it. Take care.

Freeze, Police!

Hey there. Here's a new pic of a couple of Hot Wheels in their HW Main Street Segment. The Charger was issued in 2011 and the 'Vette was issued in 2012. I thought they looked good together.  The Charger is a variation that was a Walmart exclusive.  I love the redlines and I usually buy all of them.

As for the rest of the Super Happy Funtime experience, check out the Facebook page for a very cold picture of a couple of Matchboxes and in the main site I am still putting up mostly Porsches and I am keeping up with my "at least one new picture loaded everyday" rule.

As always, Thanks for visiting.

Toy Show

I just got back from the Eckman Toy Show in San Antonio.  I found a few things for the museum. Among the finds were these Road Champ Shock Racers cars.  I've never heard of them, but for .50 each, why not?  I'll give them a shot. There were other color variations available but I just picked out 1 of each casting. According to the back of the card, I'm missing a couple if I want to complete the set. Dang.

'68 Cougar

Variations.  I don't collect them like I used to but when it's this casting I certainly do. I finally got the one with the 5-Spokes.  Yay.  I love Cougars and I would collect them even if I didn't buy anything else. It's been awhile but I will be adding 7 new pics to the Hot Wheels '68 Cougar page in the next week or so. Seeya.

Pixar's Cars Frank

I'm not one that worries about value too much with my collection, but I had no idea that this Frank model had gone up in value that much. I saw some selling for up to $50 loose and over $100 still in the package on Ebay.  But that's nothing compared to what "Bessie" is fetching, That one has reached $300 in the package on some auctions. I'm glad I got mine when I did.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy!

Hot Wheels 2013 Dodge Viper

In the Hot Wheels 2012 New Models edition they released the 2013 Dodge Viper. That's normal for Mattel, but there's a funny twist.  This was the first time anyone had seen the new Viper.  The toy was released a bit too soon, about a month ahead of the real car.  Motor Trend had an article using the Hot Wheel to discuss the new changes to the Viper. You can check it out here.

This wasn't the first time this has happened.  People got a first look at the new Corvette body style back in the sixties when the Hot Wheels was released first.

So there's some weird trivia for you in case you haven't heard. Thanks for visting and of course; Enjoy!

Porsche Racing

Howdy.  Not much to report on the site right now, just the usual daily updates. However, I did add a new listing in the Porsche section.  Porsche Racing.  I thought they would do better on their own page like this Corgi Junior Porsche 917.   As always, enjoy.

MOPAR fun in '34

A couple of weeks ago in my one of my diecast hunts in the city, I found these 2 cars by Hot Wheels. They are quite nice.  I will add them to site eventually.  In the meantime enjoy the pic.

100 Posts! Vacation Time!

In case you don't read the Facebook page, I went on a Mini Vacation this week.  I visited a classic car museum which had some really nice cars, stayed in a cabin and of course hunted for new diecast in the city.  This Hot Wheel Troy Soldier attended the BBQ.  Much fun had by all. Ciao!

Texaco

One of the new pics I added this week is this very nice Matchbox 1939 Chevy Panel Van from 2001.    It reminds me of a college summer when I worked at a Texaco truck stop.  I never got to drive one of those... or anything for that matter.

I got to clean bathrooms and showers on a regular basis though. Yep showers.  Every time a trucker rented a shower you had to go in and clean it up for the next guy.  Much summer fun was had chasing random body hairs down the walls to the drain with a carefully aimed shower head so you wouldn't have to get near it.  It was much like today's video games. Well anyhow, enjoy the pictures.

Group Pic

Here are some random cars that are waiting to be assimilated into the Museum. Apparently some of them stopped for pizza, including Wolverine and Spider-man...

Holy Matchbox, Batman

I must be slipping.  I had no idea that Matchbox was producing a Batmobile this year until I found it at Walmart last week.  Sneaky Ol' Batman, but I love finding Batmobiles.  Enjoy.

Finally!

I have been wanting a 1/64 scale model of the 1963 Chrysler Turbine car for some time.  The only model I knew of was one from NewRay and it is 1/48 scale which doesn't count. So Finally Hot Wheels produced one this year.  Yay! Thanks guys.  When I found it, I screamed like a little girl and ran out of the store. After the trial for theft, I bought it.

If you don't know about this one look it up.  It was designed by Ghia and it ran on a gas turbine engine that could burn about any type of fuel you wanted.  Talk about flex fuel.  Here's a couple of links if you wanna read more about it.
and Here.
The first page has a link to a video showing the destruction of most of the models after the trial.  It is painful to watch.
Have Fun!

Monte Carlo

Here's a random pic of a couple of Monte Carlos I had hanging out on my desk.
They'll go up in the Monte Carlo section eventually.  Visit the Facebook page for a Fangula in white.
Enjoy and Thanks for all the visits!

Lledo Tanker

Oops, time flies and I've done two updates on Facebook and nothing on this blog. But I've got a question.
Does anybody know what Make and Model this Lledo Tanker represents?  They don't do generic castings so its gotta be something.  If you know, let me know. If you don't, then enjoy the picture. :)

Sneaky Maisto Charger!

Here's a new casting that almost got by me.  The 2011 Dodge Charger.  Since Maisto made it the same color red and doesn't mark the package, I kept blowing past it thinking it was the older 2006 casting.  It wasn't until I was looking at their catalog that I realized that they had released a new model.  So stay sharp folks! Sometimes these cars are sneaky.

Updates: Porsche Cayennes

I was discussing pictures with the man that maintains a great Porsche Website at www.porsonly.com. If you like collecting Porsches then you should check it out.  But it made me realize that my Porsche section was still lacking and so I started updating the Miscellaneous section starting with the Porsche Cayenne. I've added 7 of them made by 5 manufacturers.  And keep checking back because there will be new stuff added as I get a chance.

Happy Easter!

Hi Everyone. I just wanted to wish you a Happy Easter!  This Easter pic features some Maistos that I bought last year on clearance at Walmart and have just now opened.  I saw that they are selling the 3 packs again this year but I think they are running the same designs and cars. I have 3 more but I haven't opened them yet... maybe next year.  BTW, Easter Hot Wheels are featured on Facebook.
Take care.

Audi Q7

Here's a new pic of a Audi Q7 by Realtoy.  As far as I know this is the only 1/64 scale version of this car and that alone make it interesting to me.  Of course its a well done casting as well, and a great addition to the museum.  Enjoy!

'58 Impala

No big update announcements lately, just some things like 3 new pics of '58 Impalas in the Impala section. For example, this M2.  Nice looking car.  Keep it up M2!
Enjoy.

The Amazoom!

Todays featured car is the Hot Wheels Amazoom.  A generic rendering of a Brazilian racing car.  This one is from the Mystery Models.  Its a recolor of another 2011 release.  Check out Facebook for a futuristic Tucker.
Enjoy!

Celebrating 5 Years!

The website has been up for 5 Years! In March of 2007 I started taking pictures of cars and putting them online for my own personal reference. Then one thing led to another and now I get visitors from all over the world. In that time I've added this blog and a facebook page to compliment it and there is now about 7,000 pictures on over 800 pages.
To celebrate, my lovely wife made these cupcakes. Peanut butter with chocolate icing. Yum.
Take care and happy collecting!

Update?

Sometimes a car is not so clear to file.  Like this Custom Car called the "Camaromad" by Racing Champions from 1999.  Do I put it in the Camaro section or the Nomad section? Let me think...
Enjoy the pic.

Hot Wheels 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge

The year was 2003 and Muscle Machines was apparently getting enough market share to make Mattel respond.  So they did a number of "tooned" cars in response.  One of these was this '69 GTO.  Visit my Facebook page to see two other "tooned" '69 GTOs.
Enjoy!

Update: Flying Cars

OK it's 2012.  There was suppose to be flying cars now.  Where the Hell are they?  This Moller Skycar isn't it.  It's still a plane, if that.  But when I saw a diecast one by Motormax well, I had to have a "flying car" in the museum. I like the design of Supercar of the old TV show better.  Both are still fantasies.
Enjoy.

New Additions

I went to a Toy Show in San Antonio on Saturday and brought home some new additions to the Museum. I'm digging the Elvis Dream Cadillac.  3 of these cars are extras because I forgot I had them so maybe I'll sell them. The Johnny Lightning Vette and Oldsmobile and the M2 Studebaker.
Happy Hunting!

Muscle Machines are Coming Back!

In case you haven't heard, Muscle Machines are coming back. Maisto has bought the rights, tools and hired the original artist back. And in case you have a need to do the research on the old line, let me remind you that I have on the site a complete list of all 71 of the original designs. I will endeavor to fill in the missing pictures in the next week or so.
So here's the Maisto press release.
And here's a link to my page with the list.
and just for fun here's a Muscle Machine Shelby Cobra.
:)

Updates: Corvette Grand Sport

Today's pic features a couple of Corvettes added to the site.  They were sitting on my desk like this and I thought they looked good together.  Sweet. And speaking of "sweet", check out the cake the wife made me on the Facebook page.
Enjoy.
